Our music was written with the intention of facilitating health and well-being in the world through a sense of beauty and the magical realm of wonder and is inspired by the poetry of Rumi, Wei Lotus Prayer book, meditation paintings by Betsy and musicians Ayub Ogada, Toumani Diabate and Mamadou Diabate.
Will is playing a kora, a 21-stringed bridge-harp from West-Africa originating, according to oral traditions, centuries ago with the Senegambian Mandinka. The strings are made of fishing line and they resonate through a large, halved calabash gourd stretched with a cow hide. Betsy is playing a yamaha concert grand 7.
We are so happy to be sharing our music with you which we started writing in January 2008. Coming from very different musical backgrounds we approached the composition of music with those varied perspectives and quickly found common ground in our love for world music, rhythm and improvisation. Our different musical styles on the kora and piano soon blended and flowed into a similar current and we now have taken off together in the direction of producing original music for purposes of healing.
